Tensions have been high this week after a number of events involving the police and black men have caught the nation's attention. Help a ‘Story' - before a session all of the tales and the member of staff meet up and speak for half an hour about how we are all feeling - this is where the workers member will recognise if a narrative is feeling weak/emotional. Preserve protected alerts whilst Story Store in session - all Tales have bottled water and a pen on their individual table.
We normally have the very long story, we condense this into bullet points to help volunteers when telling their story. Prepare a ‘Story' - we spend time talking via the expectations of being a narrative explaining that the experience is interactive and you aren't only telling your story but that you need to listen to questions requested and feel people story confident to answer actually. Ultimately our Stories are in cost and at any time they will cease a session should they wish to. We ask all our Tales to read and signal a Story Shop Contract this is an agreement explaining how we will hold them secure and what is anticipated, additionally contact details for an emergency.
Engage with a ‘Story' - we have now common talks with our volunteers about the Story Store - explaining the method, from this we determine a possible story teller. Write a ‘Story' - we ask the volunteer to put in writing their story in their very own phrases, with a start, a center and an end. We meet with this person a number of occasions speaking through what they've written (and often what they haven't) and between us we develop a story ranging from the beginning of their mental well being journey to where they are at current.
